We had a rock solid COVID safety protocol plan in place.

In an effort to try to not back cars up onto New Galena Rd, we're going to have cars wind around the parking lots.
Please follow signs and CREW members as they direct you as to where to drive.
We will do our very best to get you in & out.
We have a great system but we can only do it do quickly.
So, maybe bring something to listen to or work on while waiting in your car.

You can write the participants names that you're picking up for on a piece of paper.
YES, you CAN pick-up your friends' SWAG IF you know their first & last names! This is actually ENCOUARGED as it would cut down on the amount of cars at SWAG pick-up!
Please right clearly the FIRST & LAST NAMES of EACH person that you're picking up for.
When a CREW member comes to your car, please hand the piece of paper to them.

The run course is NOT SAFE to run on. It may look safe at the start, but there's BLACK ICE out there from the snow melt run-off & re-freeze that's very hard to see.
It's truly not safe.

We take GREAT EFFORTS & PRIDE in the fact that we have organized 4 SAFE EVENTS this year.
Your safety (as well as the safety of the Scoogie Events CREW and the countless volunteers) is our NUMBER ONE PRIORITY!
We take this responsibility very seriously.
No stone is left unturned in our impeccable planning to make sure YOU ARE SAFE at our events.
We want everyone to feel safe & comfortable so that you’re able to enjoy your Scoogie Events experience.
The host venue (Sailor's Point) will be laid out in a very strategic fashion that will require runners to not congregate in one area.
The layout will spread everyone out so that there is never more that 25 people in 1000 square feet of each other which is well within the state guidelines.

For safety reasons and park & state guidelines, we are limiting each 5k to ONLY 75 RUNNERS!
This means that once 75 runners has been reached, the event will CLOSE and we simply cannot accept any new registrations.

We take YOUR SAFETY VERY SERIOUSLY!
COVID PROTOCOLS for the 2020 is Hindsight 5k's!:
~Packet Pick-up (Saturday, 2/13: 2:30-4:30pm) will be “drive-up style”. You will not need to get out of your car! You will receive an email the Monday before the event with details regarding packet pick as well as race day details. In the meantime, here are the GPS coordinates: VIEW IN GOOGLE MAPS
~Each 5k is limited to ONLY 100 runners! (only runners can come on race day, no spectators please)
~We are very strongly encouraging everyone to please wear your mask while waiting to run, while running as well as after the run please.
~We will practice strict social distancing during the entire event.
~Everyone entering the venue will be required to get their temperature checked (non-contact, one second infrared thermometer)
~There will be no water stations for either the 5k run courses. Please plan accordingly.
~Hand sanitizing stations will be situated throughout the race venue.
~And YES, you can be assured that the POSITIVE VIBES you’ve come to expect will be ever present at this event as well! We all need them more than ever!😊

WHY ARE WE ORGANIZING THIS EVENT:
Because 2020 has been a very difficult year for so many of us and even though we are limited to such a small number of runners and it’s five times the amount of work to make this event happen, we feel that we need to give HOPE and spread some needed POSITIVITY to our faithful runners.
And that’s EXACTLY what we plan on doing to bring in the new year on February 14, 2021!
Additionally, we LOVE Peace Valley Park and want to give back to them!
They are this year’s race beneficiary and they will receive 100% of the donations generated from this event!

Again, if COVID gets worse over the weeks/months and we deem it to be unsafe to have this event, we will make the event a VIRTUAL event. There will be no refunds. Your swag (medal & t-shirt) will be able to be picked up a yet-to-be determined SWAG pick up.

Regarding the WINTER weather that is ALWAYS a possibility this time of year🥶!
We will NEVER put our runners in danger!

Overall TOP THREE winners (male & female), plus top three males & females in each age category:
NEW AGE GROUP 14 & under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 60-69, 70 & over. No mailing of awards or shirts.
Again, no mailing of awards or shirts. You MUST pick up your award before you leave. If you do not, we cannot hold/store awards and it will likely be given to a race day entry or someone else. It is simply too much to hold/store & inventory the awards.
Note: If you are registered for this race and you registered in time to choose a tech shirt BUT you are unable to run for whatever reason, you will NEED TO CONTACT us BEFORE RACE DAY and let us know if you'd like us to hold on to your reserved shirt for you to pick up at a future Scoogie Event. This event is a rain/shine event.
This means that if it rains (and as long as the temperature isn’t low enough to freeze any surfaces), this event IS A GO…even in the rain….”skin is waterproof😀”
In the event that we experience bad weather such as snow or ice or any weather that would cause the course to be unsafe, we will cancel the event.
There will be no refunds due to the fact that at this point all of the expenses for a race of this magnitude have been paid for.
Should COVID gets worse over the weeks/months and we deem it to be unsafe to have this event, we will make the event a VIRTUAL event. There will be no refunds. Your swag (medal & t-shirt) will be held able to be picked -up a yet to be determined SWAG pick up.
It’s important to understand that IF we need to cancel this event due to extreme weather, we will not issue any refunds and we will not reschedule the event this year.
NOTE: We do not issue any refunds, transfers or credits for any reason. We have the right to revise or cancel the race due to emergency or weather issue....(but we really hope this doesn't happen:-)
